Current EPM Applications
The following areas in northern Queensland are currently in the application stage.
Beaks Mountain Project
EPM Applications 16596 and 16935.
The Beaks Mountain Project EPMs (16596 and 16935) are approximately 25km south of Home Hill,100km southeast of Townsville Queensland.
The exploration permits cover an area of outcropping Late Carboniferous to Early Permian felsic plutonic and volcanic rocks, which InterMet considers highly prospective for porphyry copper-molybdenum and epithermal gold-silver deposits.
Porphyry copper-molybdenum deposits are associated with multiple intrusions and
dykes of diorite to quartz monzonite composition with porphyritic textures and fractures are often filled or coated by sulphides, or by quartz veins with sulphides.
Approximately 40 km to the south of EPM 16596, Conquest Mining have reported a combined resource of 16 million tonnes at 1.85 g/t gold, 58 g/t silver and 0.33% copper for a contained 931,600 oz of gold, 32 Moz of silver and 524,000 tonnes of copper from their Mount Carlton Project.
Located approximately 10 km to the southeast of EPM 16596, the Mount Dillion gold-silver prospect where soil and rock chip sampling has reported gold up to 3.55 g/t and silver up to 200 g/t.
Mourilyan Iron Project
EPM Application 17140
The Mourilyan Iron Project is located 12km southwest of Innisfail, 80km south southeast of Cairns, Queensland.
InterMet recently applied for a small tenement covering an occurrence of hematite located close to Mourilyan Harbour. The iron possibly represents banded iron formation within low grade metamorphic rocks of the Barnard Metamorphics.
The extent of iron is unknown and InterMet will undertake sampling when the EPM is granted. The iron occurrence is located on the margins of a hill.
Sunday Creek Project
EPM Application 17144.
The Sunday Creek EPM is located to the south east of Mt Garnet, 150km southwest of Cairns, Queensland
InterMet recently applied for a tenement located to the south of Mt Garnet. The tenement covers an interpreted magnetite skarn and is located near the Whispering Ridge magnetite deposit. InterMet will undertake regional soil sampling along the interpreted skarn zone and undertake regional mapping and sampling in the search for copper and base metal mineralisation.
Font Hills Project
Intermet has applied for two tenements, EPM 16758 and EPM 16743, to the northwest of Queensland.
EPM 16743 is located 15km south of Mt Carbine, 70km west northwest of Cairns and EPM 16758 is located 25km west of Maitland Downs, 125 km northwest of Cairns.
Both tenements contain prominent granite-sediment contact zones considered prospective for tin-tungsten skarns and gold hosted within Hodgkinson Formation sediments.
The Hodgkinson Formation host rocks are comprised of a thick sequence of carbonate and quartzose sediments and have been intruded by tin-bearing felsic intrusive units. Both areas contain prominent contact aureoles visible during recent helicopter reconnaissance of the region.
InterMet believes these two tenements represent an excellent target for tin-tungsten and gold and plans to undertake regional soil sampling, reconnaissance mapping and sampling to define potential drilling targets once the tenements are granted.
