Mt Ruby

The Mt Ruby iron prospect is located approximately 21km south-southwest of the town of Herberton, 25km southwest of Cairns, Queensland.
The ML Application encompasses an ironstone hill surrounded by a zone of magnetite-rich float. The hill is approximately 30m in height, 80m in length and 80m in width.

The ironstone and magnetite skarn assay up to 69.48% Fe with low phosphorous and silica. On the western side of the hill, zones of ironstone(?) containing a higher garnet content (up to 30%) were also observed.

Coarse magnetite crystals with minor hematite produced by weathering of primary magnetite. this sample assayed 68.7% Fe.
