Union Mine (ML 3366)
The Union Mine was very rich in gold and copper with estimated grades of up to 96 oz/t Au and ~20% Cu. The original miners chased this high-grade ore down to 300 ft. Old workings around the Union Mine are contained within three distinct lodes, the Union, Cranky Dick, and Walkers workings. Of these, only the Union was worked extensively and was known for its bonanza grades with a sample from a stope reported to 96.46oz Au per tonne.
Sampling conducted by InterMet collected a total of 19 samples from the Union Mine returning gold values ranging from 0.1 g/t to 197.42 g/t Au (see figure below).

Chalcopyrite-rich samples show the best gold grades though several samples away from the chalcopyrite zone show elevated gold, suggesting the potential for a lower grade halo around the main mineralised zone. Historically, much of the gold in this region was associated with sulphides and prevented economical treatment of the ore which consequently saw most of the historical mining within the oxide zone.
In 2000, exploration by Kidston Gold Mines Ltd (KGM) conducted an exploration program that included 950m of costeaning and a 12 hole RC drilling program aimed at providing supplementary ore for the Kidston Mine located approximately 60 km to the northeast.
The best results from the KGM drilling includes:
- 2m @ 24.3 g/t Au (hole PVRC2 44-46m)
- 2m @ 9.85 g/t Au (hole PVRC3 52-54m)
- 2m @ 3.4 g/t Au (hole PVRC7 52-54m)
- 6m @ 4.77 g/t Au (hole PVRC8 6-12m)
InterMet's own drilling program drilled five holes at Canadian in April/May of 2008 and returned the following results:

InterMet is currently analysing the drill hole data and planning future drilling at the Union Mine.
Percy West (ML 30199)
Percy West is located 5 km from the Union Mine and represents a different style of mineralisation from the Union Mine. Gold is hosted within a sequence of steeply dipping Rhyolitic shear zones as well as thin surface gossans.
InterMet's initial rock chip sampling collected ten samples which returned gold values ranging between 0.47 g/t to 390.61 g/t. A second, more detailed program collected a further 38 samples to confirm the high grade nature of the deposit and returned gold values of up to 608 g/t Au (see figure below).

In 2000, Eltin Ltd conducted an exploration drilling program which included an eight hole RC drilling program. Details some of the better intersections as follows:
- PW1 - 5m @ 1.0 g/t Au
- PW6 - 3m @ 2.2 g/t Au
- PW8 - 2m @ 4.4 g/t Au
InterMet drilled five RC holes at Percy West during their April/May of 2008 Percyvale drilling program to test the sheared rhyolitic mineralised zone as well as the more surficial mineralisation. Best results from the program include:
